    Prototype:

The steam locomotive series kkStB 380 was a mountain Express locomotive of the k.k. State railroad of Austria. When the superheated steam locomotives began to set in, the kkStB had the proven-in-use series 280 for the Tauernbahn built in a hot-steam version. The first two machines 380.01-02 delivered by the locomotive factory of the StEG 1909 proved to be outstanding. They put out 1645 hp, which could be increased up to 2100 hp. It was therefore 23% stronger than the 280 and 50% stronger than the 170, even surpassed the 310 series. In the professional world, it is regarded as the most successful construction of Karl Gölsdorf. 26 machines were re-ordered in which the flat valves of the low-pressure cylinders were replaced by piston slides. They were designated 380,100-125 and delivered by the locomotive factory of the StEG, the Wiener Neustadt locomotive factory as well as the locomotive factory Floridsdorf  between 1911 and 1914. The 380s were used as a consequence also on the Wocheiner railway and on the Arlbergbahn, where they were also equipped with additional oil fired boilers. After 1918 nine machines were assigned to the FS, which classified them as row 479. Seven went to the JDŽ as 07. Twelve remained the BBÖ, which equipped them with Dabeg preheater pumps and compressed air brake. Eleven were classified in 1938 by the German Reichsbahn as 58.951-961, none of which survived the Second World War. A locomotive has already been converted by the Deutsche Reichsbahn to a snow plow, which is located in the Budapest Railway Park.
